About the Speaker: Dr Prathibha Karanth

She has degrees in Psychology and Speech & Hearing, from the University of Mysore. She has worked in premier national institutions such as NIMHANS, Bangalore, CIIL and AIISH, Mysore. Currently she is Program Director and Managing Trustee of the Com DEALL Trust which was set up by her in 2003 at Bangalore, to run the Communication DEALL program for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders designed by her in 2000. The Com DEALL program has since been published widely and apart from its Head Office in Bengaluru the Trust has helped set up over 25 affiliate units across the country and is now being scaled up outside the country. She is the recipient of several grants and awards including those from international organizations such as the Common Wealth, UNICEF, Fulbright and Rockefeller Foundations as also national bodies such as the ICSSR, ICMR, NAMS, NCERT and SRTT. She has published over 80 papers and chapters in peer reviewed journals and professional books (national and international). She has also published over fifteen books and manuals on language and communication disorders, assessment and training, many of which are translated into Hindi, Kannada and other Indian languages. She is Series Editor for CommunicAids – an indigenous resource provider for children with communication disorders.

About the Course:

This course by Dr Prathibha Karanth provides a brief beginning with the history of autism. She shares various intervention approaches available in India and guides us explaining the importance of early intervention. Then she moves onto explaining the Com DEALL early intervention program and shares cse studies to showcase assessment at Com DEALL and different ways to monitor progress using Com DEALL evaluation. Finally, she presents few Communicaids available and explains the Efficacy of the program with research evidence based studies. Com DEALL also have training programs for parents and professionals which are explained at the end.
